Canadian Registration Number
The United States and Canada use the ASME Section VII code for pressure vessel design, fabrication, hydro testing, and paperwork requirements. The Canadian has a standard process that requires pre-approval or a Canadian Registration Number (CRN) prior to the start of fabrication. In most Canadian provinces require that all drawings must be reviewed and approved by a P.E. within the provinces or with Canada. New England Mechanical Overlay has partners within Canada that we work to seamless handle this procedure/process. While this process does that an additional 6-8 weeks into the lead time. Once an CRN number has been approved, New England Mechanical Overlay, Inc. can continue to fabricate pressure vessels under that CRN #. Each pressure vessel that is different requires a new CRN #. Currently, each Canadian Province does its own registration, and the provinces are in the process of harmonizing into one/two systems in the future. Any pressure vessel fabricated by New England Mechanical Overlay, Inc. for use in Canada will first be National Board (ASME) requirements and CRN. This is standard practice. New England Mechanical Overlay can support all Canadian Provinces.

The Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) Directive 2014/68/EU
The European Parliament in May 2014 created an industry standard or harmonization of the laws relating to the making available on the market of pressure vessels/pressure equipment. This allowed for free movement of pressure vessels/pressure equipment within the European community marketplace and covered all the safety and health protection requirements. In addition, this directive was to eliminate technical barriers to trade relating to the supply of pressure vessels/pressure equipment through the European community. The Essential Safety Requirements (ESRs) that govern design, manufacturing, inspection and testing of pressure vessels/pressure equipment.
Pressure vessels made for United States companies must follow ASME and in the European Community must follow PED. The documentation, designs and testing required additional engineering and internal testing. Additionally, all materials that are used in the fabrication must be from an approved PED supplier/manufacturer. There are various PED categories based on volume, pressures and types of gas/fluid used within the pressure vessels/pressure equipment.
New England Mechanical Overlay, Inc. can support your requirements and assist in design, engineering and fabrication of your PED pressure vessels/pressure equipment here in the US and work with customer(s) to arrange shipment to any European community country along with all the required CE markings to be PE complaint.

DOSH- Malaysia Pressure Part Requirements
As required by the Malaysia Government, Factories and Machinery Act 1967, Factories and Machinery (steam boilers & unfired pressure vessels) and updated in 1970; Per regulations all pressure vessels are required to have a application submitted along with drawings, FEA analysis, design calculations, hydro testing procedures prior to the start of fabrication. In general, ASME Section VIII is the baseline within Malaysia DOSH program plus the following requirements. Approved drawings by DOSH, certified by the manufacturer and an approved “recognized” inspection authority. DOSH requires higher level of hydro pressures and longer hold times. Hydro must be witnessed twice, once at the fabricators shop and once in Malaysia.
New England Mechanical Overlay, Inc. has provided several pressure vessels that have required DOSH approvals and work with our partner HSB. Let New England Mechanical Overlay support your next DOSH pressure vessel project.
